Are you a night owl or morning person? I came across this article and it really touches on the fact that some of us night owls have the stress of living in a society that looks down on those that have trouble rising early. All my life I have had the trouble of rising early and getting to work or anywhere before 12 noon. I am a night owl, a night owl with Attention Deficit Disorder that often causes delay in my daily routine. I was glad to find this article because so many look down on people like me as lazy, irresponsible, or make assumptions that I am not managing my time properly. My body's time clock is not like most of society and being a woman in my forties, I am done trying to be what pleases others, yet is not good for me. This article spells out some detail from sleep study professionals and scientist who support that people who are not early risers are not lazy and suffer health problems from trying to fit into the early bird society. Unfortunately many jobs lack any understanding or consideration of this and rising early is associated with being responsible, dependable, and better than someone who sleeps late. I think more of us must stop accepting what society tells us is normal and start spreading the knowledge about this topic. Get a diagnosis so that we can legitimize our natural rhythm.
